These vehicles typically come with an onboard charger that is optimised for single-phase power supply, allowing you to charge them using standard household outlets or dedicated single-phase charging stations.

 

 

Three-phase charging is more commonly used in commercial and industrial settings, such as public fast-charging stations or fleet charging facilities.

However, there are a few models sold in Australia that support three phase charging. These are the popular Telsa Model 3, the MG4 and the Audi E-tron, and more are likely to come on the market.

High-end car models such as the Tesla Model S and X support three phase power.

It is worth also bearing in mind that in addition to supporting 3-phase charging, a 3-phase cable can also be used for single-phase charging. So if you have three phase power available, it would be worth considering the extra cost of a three phase charger to future proof your set up.
